About

About Tank Prices.

Tank Prices is an independent UK website that shows the fuel prices forecourts report to the government’s Fuel Finder scheme, so drivers can find cheaper fuel nearby. It’s free, needs no account, and isn’t affiliated with the government or any fuel retailer.

Why Tank Prices exists

Forecourts now publish their prices through Fuel Finder, but a raw data feed isn’t much help when you’re deciding where to fill up. Tank Prices checks the feed throughout the day and turns it into town pages, postcode and location search, and a few simple tools, such as the detour calculator.

How Tank Prices is funded

Tank Prices may show a small number of clearly labelled adverts. Retailers can’t pay to appear or to change the order of results: stations are always listed by price or distance. We don’t sell visitors’ data.

How the data works

Every price shows when we last checked it, and prices that haven’t changed in a while are flagged. Averages are simple averages of reporting stations. How Tank Prices works explains the method and its limits.

For journalists, fleets and local sites

Quotable figures and CSV downloads are on the figures page. Fleets can check fill-ups against local prices, and local websites can embed live prices for free.
